Control folders used for administrative purposes from 1938 to ca. 1989. Each contained a brief description of the collection plus information on accessioning; gift , purchase or deposit status; provenance; location in stacks; and miscellaneous notes such as repairs, exhibits, and loans. Guides, lists, deposit receipts, dealer descriptions and invoices, pertinent correspondence and clippings were often included in the folders, and in many instances smaller collections were housed in them.
